New Entrant Information Evening

Kaurihohore School will be holding a community group meeting on

Thursday 7 September 2017 at 6.30 pm in Room 1.

As in the past the topic for this meeting is New Entrant Information and will be an informal discussion about the achievement expectations for children in their first year at school and what our curriculum covers.

People with children who have already started at Kaurihohore School this term or will be starting in the next few weeks of Term 3, during Term 4 this year or on our waiting list to start in Term 1 or 2 next year, are invited to come along and listen to the presentation and ask any questions you may have concerning your child’s education and what to expect when your child starts school.

If you have attended one of these meetings in the past with a sibling, the content is the same and it is not necessary for you to attend. However you are most welcome if you would like to.

For out of zone children starting in 2018, attendance at this meeting is in no way confirmation your child has been allocated an out of zone position.

Please RSVP the school by Friday 1 September 2017 for photocopying and planning purposes.

Cohort Policy - 2018

Kaurihohore school will be implementing a cohort entry policy next year. This link will give you more information if you have a child starting school next year. Basically if their birthday falls before the middle of a term, they will start on day one of that term. If their birthday falls after the middle of the term, they will start on day one of the next term. To make this easier the Ministry has set cut off dates for each term. We have only had positive feedback on adopting this policy and believe it will make the transition to school easier for teachers and children. Please remember, when a child starts school is up to you, and every child is different. If your child has a birthday before the mid-term date indicated, but you would prefer them to start following their fifth birthday at the start of the next term, this is absolutely fine, just let us know. Chrissie will be in touch regarding visit dates as per usual.

Cross Country Results

Results of the recent school cross country can be found here.

We had great weather for the event and it was nice not to have the umbrellas out.

Children who ran in their ages from January 1st 2017 may now be eligible to represent our school at the Whangarei Cross Country event.  Laura Parker will notify these children.

Thank you to everyone who managed to get along to the event and support our children.

Cross Country Information

KAURIHOHORE SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY
OUTLINE OF THE DAY
School cross country will be held on Wednesday the 16th of
August. People are welcome to come and watch. It is very
important that cars are parked and not exiting the school during the events. This is a normal school day and we prefer if children do not go home early. There is no postponement date for this event so all attempts will be made to go ahead. In the event of bad weather it is likely we may cancel the junior section of the day, but will still go ahead with the Senior races, as these are vital if in order for children to qualify for the Whangarei cross country. All children should have a change of clothes as the course is currently very muddy. At 10.05am the school will assemble on the courts. All races other than the Year 0/1 races go outside of the school grounds. Start Time - 10.15am  Please note in the races with an age nominated, children will run in the group that matches their age as of January 1st.

APPROXIMATE Race Times:
Juniors
Year 0’s - 10.15
Year 1’s - 10.20
Year 2’s - 10.25
Year 3’s + 7 year olds - 10.35
Morning Tea - 10.45am
Seniors
8yrs - 11.30
9yrs - 11.50
10+yrs - 12.10

There may be a fun run at the start of the Senior block of races if we have entries for this race.

Please do not expect office staff to know which races have run or
are due to run, your best bet is to be there during the block of

your child’s race.
