School News - Week Two

Kaurihohore School Week Two, Term Four 2026

Kia whakatōmuri te haere whakamua," Let our past guide our future

Manaaki te katoa - be kind to all.

Respect - Empathy - Kindness

Kia ora whānau, welcome back to a new term.

Term four always rushes by with so much to do. It has been great to see children return to school settled and ready for learning.  Unfortunately we do have a few bugs still making the rounds, so if children are sick, please keep them home.  Otherwise make sure they are at school every day possible.  Regular attendance makes a huge difference, not just to academics, but to social and emotional growth too.  Classes are covering a lot of learning each day and when children are away, they can feel really disconnected from what is going on and miss out on crucial aspects of learning.

Over the holiday break Paul Macdonald volunteered to complete vital work that will extend the life of our bike shed.  We are incredibly grateful to Paul for giving up his time to do this for the school and would also like to thank Kauri Oxborough and Rocco Sands for also giving up their time to assist him.  Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou mō ā koutou pukumahi!

I would like to wish our kapa haka rōpū all the best as they head off to Hurupaki to take part in their festival. It is fantastic to be able to bring kapa haka back to our kura and to see such enthusiasm in taking part.

Now we are working with Te Aroha and Reo as a whole school, we are excited to see what opportunities we can offer in the future.

On the 16th of November we have a teachers only day, please note this down on your calendar if you have not done so already. This day is allocated by the Ministry of Education to allow teachers to keep up with all of the changes that have been made and continue to be made to the curriculum.

Please remember that children must have a sunhat this term and wear it when outside, keep caps at home.

Planning for 2027 and Beyond

If your child will not be attending our school next year, please get in touch with your child’s teacher and the school office as soon as possible. This assists us greatly in our planning for 2027. If you know of any families living in our zone that may have children attending our school from 2027 to 2023 to get in touch with us if they have not already added their child to our waiting list. This helps us to predict our roll accurately and to know how many out of zone places we have to offer.

Teachers Only Day - Note This Date Down

This will be held on November the 16th, this day will be used to assist teachers to review the curriculum and make any changes for 2027.  Please make arrangements for your children on this day as school will be closed for instruction.
