Week Four School News

Kaurihohore School Week Four, Term Four 2026

Kia whakatōmuri te haere whakamua," Let our past guide our future

Manaaki te katoa - be kind to all.

Respect - Empathy - Kindness

Kia ora, mālō e lelei, talofa and greetings!

We are almost halfway through the term and school is a busy place right now, lots of learning going on, end of year assessments and extra activities.  Please ensure children are at school when they are well so they don’t miss out on anything.

It was wonderful to be able to get along to watch our Kapa Haka roopu perform at Hurupaki.  We feel grateful to be able to bring these opportunities back for our children and thank Te Aroha, Reo and Jo for making this happen for them.

Last week was teacher appreciation day.  I want to express my gratitude to our teaching staff, teaching is a profession that everyone feels they are ‘expert in’ because they went to school.  Education is also a real political football and the pressure cooker climate we have been working in over the past three years has not been easy.  Unless you spend time regularly in classrooms, you can not possibly know what it is like to be a teacher, it is both an incredibly tough, but incredibly rewarding profession.  Thank you to all of our teaching staff here at Kaurihohore, you are valued and genuinely appreciated.  We talk about our children going above and beyond, but often forget our teachers are doing this each and every day to make our kura such a special place to be.

Planning for 2027 and Beyond

If your child will not be attending our school next year, please get in touch with your child’s teacher and the school office as soon as possible. This assists us greatly in our planning for 2027. If you know of any families living in our zone that may have children attending our school from 2027 to 2023 to get in touch with us if they have not already added their child to our waiting list. This helps us to predict our roll accurately and to know how many out of zone places we have to offer.

Out of Zone positions

We didn’t fill all of our out of zone positions for new entrants in 2027 and have a couple of positions at other year levels in the school.  Feel free to let anyone that may be interested know to get in touch with us.

End of Year Prizegivings - 11th December

This year we have decided to hold the junior(year 0 -3) and senior (year 4 - 6) prizegivings on the same day. More details will come home about this but we will hold the senior prizegiving portion from 12.30pm and the juniors from 1.45pm. There will be a break in the middle, more information about this will come home when we have finalised it.

Kaurihohore School - 150th Jubilee

Our school celebrates its 150th anniversary next year! We have set the 23rd of October as the date for this celebration and will provide more information as planning progresses. If you or anyone you know would like to help plan this event, please speak with Shelley. Please also help us spread the word to past families to save the date.
