Hours
School hours are 9am - 2.55pm. Children need to be at school before 9am and picked up by 3.20pm at the latest. Morning tea is 11.00am - 11.20am and lunch playing time is 12.30pm-1.15pm. Children then eat lunch between 1.15 and 1.30pm with the supervision of a teacher.
Junior classes (room 1 - 5) come out to the courtyard at 2.50pm. If you have children in Rooms 6 -9, please avoid being at the front of the line, so that junior children can be sent to their cars.
Office hours are 8am - 3.30pm.
Procedures for Dropping off Children
Ideally children need to be at school at least ten minutes before the bell so they can get ready for the day. If dropping children off using the line system, please do so quickly. Do not use the line as a parking area.
Children can be dropped of from 7.45am at the earliest, but please only do so if really necessary as children are not supervised and classes may still be locked. The office does not open until 8am. Please do not drop off children until a staff member is present on the grounds.
Preferably children can be dropped off from 8am onwards.
Procedures For Picking Up Children
- You may park and walk in to get your child at 2.50pm or join the pick up line.
- If waiting for your child, please wait in the courtyard. Children are easily distracted if you wait outside their classroom. Please do not park behind cars unless you are leaving straight away. You may park in the staff car park if there is room.
- If someone different is picking up your child, you must inform the school so that the duty teacher knows that your child is allowed to go home with that person.
- The car park is completely one way.
- Children will wait in the courtyard until they see their car in the line. Once they can see their car they may move to the footpath beside the duty teacher who will be next to the gate. They will wait until their car is accessible via the footpath. The duty teacher will indicate to the children when they are able to safely move to their car. Children need to walk along the yelow lines.
- There is to be no parking outside of the administration area between 2.40pm and 3.30pm. This area is to be left free for the pick up line and the bus. Do not park on yellow lines and do not block exit and entry points to any of the car parks, this includes the staff car park.
- Drivers in the pick up line need to be in their car and ready to move as soon as the bell goes, this is not an appropriate place to park nor is it an appropriate place to have a quick catch up when others are wanting to move off.
- The pick up line is to start as close to the crossing as possible. Drivers are asked to queue as closely as is reasonable to the car in front of them. The line often extends out past the cemetery. Cars should join the queue and move up as spaces become available.
- If parking in the rear car park, people are requested to arrive prior to 2.55pm or at 3.15pm. The pick up line has right of way between these times. If you are in the pick up line, we ask if you do not block the gate so access is still available if needed.
- Drivers waiting to pick up children off of the intermediate bus are asked to arrive after 3.15pm to allow others to park at pick up time.
- Drivers are asked to exit the car park as carefully as possible. If ready to go before the car in front has exited please move around the car as safely as possible remember the car in front has the right of way.
- If a child needs help getting into the car, it is preferred that the front car park is used. Time getting out of the car to put children in slows the movement of the line greatly. If parents need to get out of their car to assist their child, they are asked to do so as quickly as is reasonably and safely possible.
- Most of all drivers are asked to be respectful of the needs of others and move off as promptly as is safely possible. While we understand this time of day can become frustrationg, we urge you to not take your frustrations out on others.
- The duty teacher is responsible for supervising children until 3.20pm. After this time there may be no staff member present to supervise your child.
- Please use the crossing, do not walk across the car park. If parking you will need to come across the crossing to collect your child safely, children are not allowed to be running across the crossing without an adult supervising them.
- Children are not to walk out of the pedestrian gate unaccompanied by an adult.
- Please respect these rules as they are for your child's safety.
● All children must be picked up by 3.20pm; this includes Intermediate children using our school as a pick up point.
