Week Ten News

Kaurihohore School Week Ten, Term Three 2024

Manaaki te katoa - be kind to all.

Respect - Empathy - Kindness

He aroha whakatō, he aroha ka puta mai

“If kindness is sown, then kindness is what you shall receive”

Kia ora e te whānau,

We had a fantastic day yesterday celebrating a day of outside play.  The weather played the part and it was awesome to see children happily playing all day.  It was a lovely way to break up the week.

Thank you to those that nominated us for post peelings from Crofts Poles and Timber.  These have been delivered this morning and will be used to remediate the areas that were disturbed by the fence so we can plant in the future.  We will let you know when we need help moving this.

A big thank you to Crofts Poles and Timber for this donation.

We have had a great term, it has been busy and unfortunately there has still been a lot of sickness hanging around, however classes have been very productive and children have put in some big efforts.  We are grateful for all of the support that you provide.  Thank you for getting your child to school regularly and understanding that regular attendance is vital for social, emotional and academic progress.

Our Halloween event is just around the corner and we need lots of help.  This is a big fundraiser for us and every little bit we raise is vitally important.  Below I will share ways we will be asking each classroom to help, but I also urge you to let the office know or comment on the facebook post if you are able to help.  If you will be attending with your family, you are still able to help with set up and clean up or in other ways.

Our awards assembly is being held at 2.10pm this Friday, everyone is welcome to attend.

I hope you have the opportunity to spend some quality family time with your children over the holidays.

Awards Assembly

This will be held at 2.10pm under the canopy on the last day of this term.

Trophies

Please send back by the end of this term any trophies that your child won at the end of 2023.  This will allow us time to get them engraved for 2024.

Teacher Only Day

This will be held on the 21st of October in the second week of Term 4.   School is closed for children on this day.  This is an allocated day from the Ministry of Education for teachers to work through delivery of the new curriculum.

Life Education Caravan - Promoting healthy physical, social and emotional practices for children

Harold and Nadine will be with us the first week of Term 4.  Each class will get two visits each.  Your child’s teacher will share with you the topic of discussion.  We ask for a  contribution of $2, $4 or $6  towards this visit.  This can be paid via Kindo, or via the school office.  We kindly accept any level of contribution you can give to help us cover this cost.

Calf Club/Flower Day

Last day for animal registrations is today, the 25th of September.

More information about this day will be sent home in the first week back of term as all classes will be creating items to be judged.

We are currently looking for helpers to run a sausage sizzle from 10.30 - 1.30 on the day.  Please let us know if you would be able to help, even if you are able to do a slot over this time and work in with others so you can go and view your children’s items.

Halloween Fundraiser

Next term we are asking for specific donations from classrooms.   Rooms 1-5 are asked to provide baking for sale at the event.   We will be asking for six families from each of these rooms to bake a dozen cupcakes.  Teachers will be sending home a message about this on day one next term and will be keeping track to ensure they have six bakers from their classroom.

Room 6 - 9 will be providing lolly donations (wrapped) or drinks (juice boxes like the ones pictured.)   Teachers will be also keeping a track of these donations so will be keeping the donations in class.  We know many families have children in multiple classrooms, so we ask you to just opt into the one that suits you.

We would also appreciate any crafts that we could sell at the market section of the event.  If you know a crafty person, keen to make things that would appeal to children, we would be grateful for their support.

Planning for 2025

If you know your child will not be returning to Kaurihohore next year, please let us know as soon as you can.  If you know of any families planning to move into our zone, please encourage them to get in touch.  This allows us to plan more accurately for 2025.

Contacting Us

You can find all staff emails on our blog page under the tab  ‘our staff,’ however the best way to contact your child’s teacher is via seesaw message.  Teachers will endeavour to answer when they have  time during the day, however please don’t expect replies to messages or emails after 5pm.  We will respond the next day as soon as we can.  Please refrain from using Facebook messenger, or our personal phone numbers to contact us.
