Week One News

Kaurihohore School Week One, Term Four  News 2022

Manaaki te katoa - be kind to all.

Respect - Empathy - Kindness

He whakatauki. Ehara tāku toa i te toa takitahi. Engari, he toa takitini.

Success is not the work of one but the work of many.

Kia ora koutou,

It is great to be back!  Term four promises as always to be super busy, the weeks will fly by, as they always do.

Please remember children need a sunhat (not a cap) to wear each day if they want to play in the sun.  They also need to start bringing their togs, check with your child’s teacher on their swimming days.  A massive thank you to Paul Allen for all the extra unpaid hours he has put into getting the pool ready and thank you to those that have volunteered to be on our pool roster, we couldn’t operate the pool without you.

Hopefully you have had a chance to read the latest instalment of your child’s report.  As this report is cumulative, by the end of the year, you will have a lovely reflection of their year as a learner.  In term four, we will update academic levels, but if you have questions, or would like to know how to help, please make time to sit down with your child’s teacher.  We are only too happy to meet with you and discuss your child and their specific needs.

Here’s to a fantastic term!

E iti noa ana, nā te aroha

Although it is small, it is given with love

Junior Sandpit

We are currently planning a sandpit area that will be connected to our native garden.  The Mountain Lions have very kindly offered their support to get this in place.  However we need a bit of a design.  Landscaping and design is not my forte, so Paul Allen would love someone's help to plot out what the design for this area may look like.   This would just be conceptual, drawing out what it would look like and measuring it out.  We need to get on to this urgently, so if you feel you could work with Paul on this, please email paul421allen@gmail.com

Drop off/Pick Up

Please do not drop off children before 7.45am and make sure they are picked up by 3.15pm in the afternoon 3.20pm at the latest.

Avos to Go School Fundraiser For Books

Orders are now open till the 23rd of October.

Gumboot Friday - Friday 4th of November

We are encouraging children to get their gumboots on and bring a donation along on the 4th, to support Gumboot Friday. 100% of the money raised goes towards paying for counselling for kiwi kids and young people, this is a very worthy cause, so gumboot up!

If children do not have gumboots, they may like to wear fancy socks, or something else that makes a bold statement.

Fundraisers - Sponsored Run - Coming Very Soon!

Please make sure children are gathering sponsorship, this event is a lot of fun, we would love to see you dress up and join in!

This year our 'Sponsored Run' will take place on Tuesday 8th November, children can dress up for this event, but keep in mind, they will get quite warm.

Sponsorship forms will get sent home with the tamariki today. Any amount would be greatly appreciated!

We are aiming to raise around $3000 from this fundraiser, so please get behind us and encourage children to seek sponsorship on this day.   This fundraising will go towards the

$12 000 we still need to raise for the curriculum, so we are hoping to make a massive dent in this big number!

Calendar Art

A massive thank you for getting behind this fundraiser, we managed to raise $2450…we will let you know when they have arrived for pick up.  Thank you Yvette for your work sorting this.

Halloween Fundraiser

This is now sold out!  That is 400 people that we need to cater for.  Thank you so much to those that have offered help, if you are able to help, but have not volunteered, please let us know.

To make maximum profit, we need every family to assist us with baking.   A message about this has been out on seesaw and facebook.  Please leave baking in the breakfast room Monday morning (31st Oct) so we can gauge exactly what we have and assess whether we need more in plenty of time before our gates open. Thank you so much!

A massive thank you to Kim for taking the lead on this and to our small committee for being brave enough to take a fundraiser like this on!

Life Education Caravan

The children loved this experience as usual and your fabulous donations helped us to cover the full cost of the visit…$800.  I am so grateful to you all!
