School Council Meeting Summary
School Council Meeting - 03/08/18
Problems/Issues
No problems around the school were reported to the council for discussion.
Other Matters Discussed:
Nerf Gun Thursday
The school council have requested on behalf of the school that Nerf Gun Thursday be brought back. So that is a big YES from me. Same rules as last time, nerf guns only, glasses to protect eyes, no headshots, no shooting at the unarmed, plastic 'non-stingy' bullets only. The council were also really keen on the idea of a course for their battles with targets, any adults keen to make their vision happen are absolutely welcome :)
Assembly
The council had a discussion about assembly and shared that they like the awards and the entertainment but dislike the length of time they have to sit uncomfortably for, and don't think it is a good use of their learning time. They discussed the idea of giving awards out in classes each week instead and one class being in charge of entertainment once a fortnight. Classes will now talk more about this.
Kauri's Got Talent
Coming soon to a school near you :) Children will be able to enter in for this and finals will happen towards the end of the term.
Mid-Winter Swim
Next week, brave children should bring their togs for a 2.15pm dip. Parents welcome.
Disco
This will happen at school next term with a similar scary theme to last year. More info when we have it.
Empty Classroom day
This is in the last week of school. The council have requested an egg drop day over the last few meetings, so we have decided to hold it on the same day. Children can design a contraption to protect an egg that will be dropped from the roof of Room 4.
Pallets
The council and wider school are eager for more pallets, if you know of anyone that can supply these, they would be very grateful. They also discussed the pallet house village that we want to create behind Room 1, with eventually a fire pit in the middle. The council were excited about also painting these houses when complete and eager to 'sleepover'.
Meeting ended 9.30am
